Overview

The Energy Solutions division delivers Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) and Design/Build Contracts. ESPCs enable facility upgrades on a budget-neutral or budget-positive basis, directing energy expenditures into upgrades that cover scope development, design, bidding, construction management, commissioning, measurement and verification, and ongoing energy management services. We have experience designing energy-efficient buildings, including zero energy buildings, and deep expertise in the Guaranteed ESPC market.

The Renewable Energy team covers behind-the-meter and front-of-the-meter solar projects, battery energy storage, microgrids, and EV charging infrastructure across diverse building types.

Responsibilities

The Energy Solutions division is the fastest growing part of CMTA. This position will work with a team of engineers to design, bid, project manage, and commission solar PV, battery, and EV charging systems for CMTA clients. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, client-focused, and has a technical background.

Desired Experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience in PV & Battery installations (small commercial to large commercial, 50 kW – 2 MW+)
  • NABCEP PV Installation, Designer, Commissioning or Inspector Certification (preferred, but not required)
  • Knowledge of installation of AC & DC electrical wiring, communications and monitoring systems (SMA, Solar Edge, Fronius, Chint, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of the NEC electrical code, especially section 690
  • Experience with PV interconnection documents and utility tariffs; behind-the-meter and ahead-of-the-meter interconnections
  • Experience with modeling PV production (SAM, PVsyst, Helioscope, etc.)
  • Ability to understand structural drawings and related industry terminology
  • Extensive knowledge of PV racking types (pitched roofs, flat roofs, carports, ground mounts) from brands such as Unirac, Panel Claw, Terrasmart, Iron Ridge, etc.
Desired Skills
  • Experience with Revit/AutoCAD is required
  • Electrical engineering: develop, read, and discuss single-line diagrams for PV systems; calculate voltage drop, conduit fill, transformer sizing, short-circuit current calculations
  • Energy concepts:
    Real Power, Reactive Power, Apparent Power
  • Solar: knowledge of grid-tied PV systems and components
  • Power distribution: knowledge of 3-phase power systems and microgrids
  • Construction: familiarity with project management, project flow, and deadlines
  • Design: familiarity with SMA, Solar Edge, Fronius and other inverter products/design software
