About The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer at TAI, you will serve as a technical linchpin in the Mechanical Engineering division, transforming complex client needs into high-performance HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs.
You will transition from high-level engineering analysis and code research to the hands‑on creation of detailed construction documents and Revit models across diverse sectors like life sciences and mission‑critical infrastructure. This role offers autonomous ownership of individual tasks while collaborating across disciplines to drive projects from preliminary scope through to construction administration.
What a Typical Day Looks Like- Supporting multiple projects.
- Collaborating and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and stakeholders.
- Conducting field surveys and documenting existing conditions.
- Researching applicable codes and industry standards.
- Performing engineering analysis.
- Preparing engineering calculations.
- Developing preliminary and detailed engineering designs.
- Performing mechanical design and drafting.
- Creating drawing specifications.
- Collaborating with vendors for equipment selections.
- Completing design quality control checklists, monitoring progress of assigned tasks, and notifying managers of scope changes.
- Developing skills to direct Engineer I and/or designers for creation of drawings.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or ability to take FE exam.
- LEED accreditation preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of mechanical engineering design experience on relevant projects, including HVAC air‑side and plumbing systems.
- Minimum 2 years of experience preparing heating and cooling load calculations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience performing ductwork or piping pressure‑drop calculations.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in Revit, including setting up jobs and designing mechanical and/or plumbing systems.
- Minimum 1 year of experience preparing basic equipment selections for HVAC or plumbing equipment.
- Ability to perform field work involving walking, kneeling, sitting, standing, climbing stairs and/or ladders.
- Willingness to travel to client sites.
- Willingness to work in the office at least two days per week.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
- Ability to gather and organize information and documentation.
- Ability to multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive work attitude, and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Pay: $75,000‑105,000 annually (depending on experience).
