Our Energy Solutions division focuses on delivering Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs). These contracts upgrade and renovate facilities in a budget‑neutral or even budget‑positive way, covering scope development, design, bidding, construction management, commissioning, measurement and verification, and ongoing energy management services. We have designed the nation’s most energy‑efficient buildings, including many zero‑energy buildings.

CMTA Energy Solutions offers a robust co‑op program for college students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. The program spans two or more semesters, providing immersive experience in Guaranteed Energy Savings Performance Contracting. Co‑ops engage in collaborative project tasks with full‑time engineers under the direct supervision of Professional Engineers, building competitive industry skills. The program is designed to develop students into full‑time caliber employees contributing to the company’s growth.

Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work both as a team member and independently.

Mechanical co‑ops will gain hands‑on experience with photovoltaic systems, LED lighting designs, HVAC systems such as geothermal, and building automation systems. By the end of the program, co‑ops will have the experience to get a head start in the Energy Service Company (ESCO) industry and may join the fastest growing ESCO in the country.

Job Functions (may include but are not limited to):

  • Assist in all aspects of the project development phase – including site visits, building audits, energy calculations
  • Generate energy models and perform calculations to evaluate feasibility of energy savings measures identified
  • Assemble organized sets of project drawings and documents
  • Collect and analyze energy data, often involving field verification
  • Work collaboratively with designers and professional engineers to develop all aspects of a project

Requirements:

Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.

  • CAD experience is helpful but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to travel locally for field work
