We are seeking a skilled System Safety Engineer to support the safety analysis and documentation of a large, complex, safety-critical system. The ideal candidate will have experience applying industry safety standards and methodologies such as SAE ARP
4754A and ARP
4761, and will play a key role in assessing, documenting, and ensuring the safety compliance of hardware and software components.
Responsibilities include:
- Apply relevant safety standards to systems development and safety assessments.
- Perform traceability and validation of system safety requirements across software and hardware elements.
- Develop and maintain key safety documentation including:
System Safety Program Plans (SSPP) Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA) Preliminary/System Safety Assessments (PSSA/SSA) - Conduct analytical activities such as:
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Common Cause Analysis (CCA) - Support Safety Risk Management (SRM) by identifying hazards, assessing risk, and tracking mitigations.
- Collaborate with systems and design engineers, and present findings in safety working groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in system safety engineering within aerospace, automotive, or related industries.
- Direct experience with SAE ARP
4754A and ARP
4761 safety processes. - Familiarity with systems engineering and software development life cycles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with avionics, GNSS systems (e.g., GPS, Galileo), or navigation technologies.
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-278A, DO-254, or Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) tools.
- 2+ years in systems or software engineering roles.
