Lead Substation Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Engineer to drive design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects supporting critical infrastructure clients. In this role, you will lead multi-disciplinary engineering efforts, develop physical and protection/control designs, review calculations and drawings, and ensure NESC, IEEE, and utility standards compliance. You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with IT, cyber, and analytics teams, and interface directly with customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of high-voltage substation projects
• Develop physical layout, grounding, and protection/control designs
• Perform and review engineering studies, calculations, and drawings
• Ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, and utility standards
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary IT, cyber, and analytics teams
• Interface with customers to define requirements and present solutions
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers
• Support project planning, scheduling, and budget tracking
• Oversee quality assurance and design reviews
• Contribute to continuous improvement of tools, standards, and processes
