Behavioral Health Therapist III

Inova Behavioral Health Center Fairfax is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist III to join the Comprehensive Addiction Treatment Services (CATS) - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Merrifield team. Full-time Day Shift: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 12-9pm Tuesday & Friday 8:30-4:30 p.m.

Behavioral Health Therapist III

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides care coordination to assure that the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes. When indicated by role, participates in patient and community psycho educational programs and facilitates support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, substance use disorders, medical diagnosis and chronic or life limited illnesses while assisting with community outreach as needed.

  • Provides documentation and performs administrative functions appropriate to clinical role. Provides a range of therapeutic interventions, psycho-educational programming and behavioral interventions (when indicated) to assist the patient/family in achieving the goals and objectives of the individualized service plan.

  • Provides care management to ensure the patient and family receive and are subsequently referred to appropriate healthcare and community resources to optimize treatment/intervention outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in Mental Health, Social Work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or Behavioral Health related field.
  • Experience: Three years of experience post licensure in mental health/substance use disorder treatment, psycho educational programming including targeted, evidence based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, and integrative therapies).
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association within 3 months of hire. Crisis Prevention Institute within 6 months of hire.
  • Licensure: Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).
