Job OverviewInsight Memory Care Center is seeking a Full Time Recreation Assistant to be responsible for day-to-day programming for day center program participants in all stages of dementia. The Recreation Assistant will be responsible for assessing current participant needs, planning and development of programs, facilitating programming and ongoing evaluation of programming offerings in coordination with the Director of Recreation. The Recreation Assistant is also responsible for fostering a team-focused environment as well as practicing Person Centered Care for all participants in their programming and care needs.
This position will also help participants with completing activities of daily living while at the Day Center.
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational activities tailored to the interests and needs of participants.
- Facilitate group activities and one-on-one sessions that promote social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive engagement.
- Provide care and support to participants during activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other team members to assess participant needs and preferences for recreational programming.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and progress in recreational activities.
- Support participants with memory care initiatives, helping them engage in familiar activities that enhance their cognitive function.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation from all participants, including those with varying abilities.
- Qualified Candidates should have experience working with individuals with dementia as well as experience working in a recreation/programming setting.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and practices is a plus.
- Strong schedule management skills to effectively coordinate activities and ensure smooth operations.
- Ability to demonstrate care, empathy, and patience while assisting participants in various activities.
- Ideal education for candidates could include studies in recreation therapy, art therapy, music therapy, gerontology, etc. CTRS preferred but not required.
