DescriptionTitle: Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) ~ Special Education
Position Type: Part-time (approximately 7-10 hrs/week, 10-month school year position, renewable each year)

What The SLP Does: Provides diagnostic and therapeutic speech and language services to students with communication disorders. Serves as a consultant to teachers and other staff regarding the development and implementation of speech and language services.
Program Management:
- Assists teachers in developing language curriculum and teaching strategies.
- Monitors classroom language programs by direct participation, observation and/or conferences.
- Serves as a resource for materials and methods.
- Attends IEP meetings.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.
Direct Service:
- Provides speech/language evaluations.
- Develops and implements an individualized therapeutic program (part of the IEP) for each student receiving speech/language services.
- Provides individual/group/classroom speech/language therapy.
- Provides services in a variety of on and off campus settings.
- Provides consultative speech/language therapy.
- Maintains files on each student seen for speech/language therapy.
- Provides quarterly progress reports.
Other: Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Hold a valid speech-language pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology
- Experience in special needs school environment, preferred
