About the Organization Community Living Alternatives (CLA) Corp, is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit charitable organization. CLA was founded in 1987 and provides residential support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern Virginia.
Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a safe, supportive, and integrated place to call home, we operate 12 homes for 42 individuals in the Northern Virginia region. CLA promotes the individual development and enhancement of daily living skills, participation in community and involvement with family and friends. We provide residential supports that meet the unique needs of each individual and work in close collaboration with county support coordinators, families and experts to develop the appropriate person centered plan of services.
Relationships are the basis for all of the work we do. Whether a staff member has worked with an individual for 30 years or 30 days, there is an emphasis on dignity, respect, choice and collaboration.
Position Human Resources Assistant
Description
SUMMARYPerforms administrative tasks in support of the Human Resources functions.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no supervisory responsibilities
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKSInterfaces with the Human Resources Manager, the Executive Director, Project and Business Managers, Project Directors, and external parties to implement Human Resources functions.
Reports to and assists HR Manager with all aspects of HR including recruitment and hiring/onboarding processes, reporting; benefit administration, payroll, employee relations, HRIS and employee record maintenance.
Types forms, letters, reports or contracts for the signature of Executive Director, HR Manager or other members of senior management team.
Performs HR duties including greeting walk-in employees, making and answering phone calls, filing, typing, stuffing envelopes, making copies, and sending faxes or emails.
Maintains excel databases and other computerized records containing information required for human resources and program support operations.
Responds to inquiries regarding personnel policies, procedures, and programs.
Drives personal vehicle for occasional team building visits to program sites.
Distributes incoming mail in accordance with administrative procedural guidelines.
Attends meetings as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS- Background, degree or SHRM certification in Human Resources management.
- Ability to work cooperatively and professionally in a diverse team and a mission driven environment that supports adults with intellectual disabilities,
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing,
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel essential),
- Good knowledge of the principles and practices of record maintenance and retention,
- Ability to accurately maintain filing systems,
- Ability to analyze and summarize information in both narrative and numerical form,
- Ability to maintain confidentiality,
- Ability to use HRIS/payroll system.
Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management, or B.A plus current SHRM certification or equivalent experience working in a human resources department.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSThe employee is required to maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Additionally, the employee is required to have a self-owned vehicle immediately available while on duty. The vehicle must be legally licensed and registered, properly maintained and insured according to the laws of the state of the employee’s residence.
