Data Scientist

Responsible for conducting data science efforts using statistics, algorithms, data mining and visualization to perform EDA and model complex problems and to stage data for reporting, visualization and machine learning solutions.

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented
Data Scientist
to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career in Ashburn, VA.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform hands-on data analysis leading to development of predictive models, visual analytics, and reports
• Demonstrate proficiency in extracting, cleaning, and transforming transactional and associated data sets within an identified problem space to build predictive models as well as develop appropriate supporting documentation
• Leverage knowledge of a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques to develop, evaluate, and deploy new predictive analytical models that directly inform mission decisions
• Utilize and explore variety of statistical/modeling tools and languages to compare and assess best performing Machine Learning results
• Work collaboratively within a large, Agile development team

Required

Skills and Experience:

• Education:
  
  Bachelors Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science/engineering, or other related technical fields with equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years of experience required
• Experience in developing machine learning models and applying advanced analytics solutions to solve complex business problems
• Experience with programming languages including: R, Python, Scala, Java.
• Proficiency with SQL programming
• Experience constructing and executing queries to extract data in support of EDA and model development
• Proficiency with statistical software packages including: SAS, SPSS Modeler, R, WEKA, or equivalent
• Experience with pattern recognition and extraction, automated classification, and categorization
• Experience with entity resolution (e.g., record linking, named-entity matching, deduplication/ disambiguation)
• Experience with unsupervised and supervised machine learning techniques and methods
• Experience performing data mining, analysis, and training set construction

Customer Requirements:

• Clearance – Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation
• Citizenship – Must be a US Citizen
• Location – Hybrid with on-site (Ashburn, VA) visits 1-2 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area
