Job Summary
Seeking a Sr. SQL Developer / Enterprise Data Warehouse professional with data warehousing and cloud environment experience to support the Office of Information Systems (TC) within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The DEA’s SQL Server-based EDW is used by many DEA applications and is a critical component of statistical reporting. Active secret clearance is required.
Responsibilities- Assist the EDW Team and provide data warehouse information and facilitate the transition to a cloud environment
- Create and maintain database integrity and performance using scripts and/or Visual Studio Database Projects
- Create new and maintain/improve all data transformation services:
Microsoft SSIS and related VS data tools - Write SQL scripts to deploy, enhance, and maintain databases
- Maintain database security, including data base roles, users, and logins
- Write reports or facilitate data access by other means as needed (e.g., SSRS, Power
BI) - Conduct performance tuning and database design, dimensional analysis and modeling
- Maintain and extend an extensive set of SSIS packages for ETL of data
- Support the development of a Data Engineering environment using Python and other languages for ETL and ELT operations
- Review database systems from non-Concorde applications in other DEA offices for ingestion into the EDW
- Participate in daily Agile stand‑up meetings, monthly planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Perform other duties as assigned
- U.S. citizenship required
- Active secret clearance required
- Must be able to pass a DEA Security Approval
- 2+ years of cloud environment experience (AWS or Microsoft Azure)
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and implementing SQL Server databases, including T‑SQL procedures, functions, and triggers
- 5+ years of experience with SSIS packages in an enterprise data warehouse environment
- 5+ years of experience with SQL Server 2016
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of Business Intelligence, Kimball modeling, and/or elastic search is desired
- Post‑employment ethics letter requirement for recent U.S. government employees if offered employment
- Experience in an Agile development environment
- Experience with Git, Python, and Power Shell
- Experience with Azure Dev Ops Server
- Ability to write efficient SQL queries and interpret legacy scripts
- Experience with multi‑dimensional data models
- Prior experience with SSIS
- Knowledge of Kimball data warehouse methodology
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
- Ability to reverse engineer existing logic (queries, stored procedures, functions, Python, C#)
- Ability to write test plans and cases
- Experience with data modeling
- Experience with programming and software development (Python, R, or other high‑level language)
- Quality Assurance experience is a plus
