Azure Cloud Engineer
Everforth ECS is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to work in a hybrid remote/onsite capacity, with a minimum of 4 business days onsite at our Fairfax, VA office and/or Springfield, VA customer site. The position supports a large DoD program with AWS Gov Cloud, Azure, and classified cloud environments, focusing on AI/ML research, development, integration, and operational support.
Responsibilities- Coordinate with customers and partners to architect, deploy, document, accredit, and support innovative cloud solutions across multiple cloud environments.
- Monitor and manage security compliance, remediations, and patch management for both classified and unclassified environments.
- Evaluate customer issues and make educated decisions on technologies, tools, and overall delivery strategy.
- Operate in a hybrid environment, including SCIF/on-site work up to 4 days a week.
- Communicate effectively with customers, contract program managers, industry partners, ECS senior management, and government representatives.
- Provide leadership and creativity in new business capture and proposal development.
- Track industry trends and leverage them to drive innovation and solution excellence across various functional domains.
- Collaborate with operations, technical, and business development managers, and ECS Centers of Excellence on key components of large solutions.
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent experience.
- Existing and active TS/SCI security clearance.
- DOD 8570-01M certification: IAM Level I or better (e.g., Security+).
- Experience administering Linux (patch, STIG, configuration, and troubleshooting).
- Expertise in Dev Ops, Git Lab, configuration management, cloud infrastructure, automation, scripting with Power Shell and Python.
- Experience in cloud formation/automation, Power Shell, and comparable Linux scripting.
- Experience building infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Experience enforcing cloud security practices: encryption, VPC endpoint policies, bucket policies, security group hardening.
- Hands‑on technical experience with network and transport protocols, tools, and techniques.
- Strong knowledge of IP networking: VPCs, VPNs, VRF, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls.
- Experience developing and maintaining system architecture and configuration documentation.
- At least 5 years of customer‑facing cloud projects (Azure and/or AWS).
- 7+ years of IT platform implementation experience.
- Strong understanding of Azure and/or AWS/cloud‑based technologies with a desire to learn more.
- 3+ years of relevant experience in roles delivering and sustaining technical and cloud solutions.
- Customer focus with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working within a classified cloud environment.
- Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or Certified Solutions Architect.
- Experience administering Red Hat servers (patch, STIG, configuration, troubleshooting).
- Strategic thinking about business, product, and technical challenges.
- Advanced understanding of Dev Ops Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment.
- Proven ability to communicate and demonstrate technical solutions value to diverse stakeholders.
- Depth of understanding of data management and security.
- ITIL v3 Foundations certification.
