If you thrive in a fast-moving environment, enjoy solving client problems in real time, and want the opportunity to bring innovative ideas to life while growing others' leadership skills, this role offers the visibility to make a measurable difference.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

As a Project Lead, you will manage one or more small projects and be accountable for client satisfaction, delivery quality, and effective team execution. You will operate within established account governance and CGI-required processes, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations, milestones, and applicable SLAs.

Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client—building credibility, managing expectations, and ensuring the team's work stays aligned to evolving business needs.
  • Respond to questions, log and track requests, and translate priorities into actionable plans.
  • Understand the client's business, organization, and requirements; ensure solutions address client needs.
  • Maintain a project communication strategy and provide accurate, on‑time status updates (including required huddles/data calls).
  • Identify and articulate risks, issues, and mitigation plans; escalated appropriately.
  • Identify potential add‑on work/new opportunities and communicate them to the PM.
  • Support proposal efforts as needed (e.g., solution input, writing, reviews).
Project Delivery, Governance, and Quality
  • Lead day‑to‑day execution and ensure the team delivers quality outputs in compliance with required processes and controls.
  • Lead and organize daily activities for a small software development team (approx. 4–8 people).
  • Apply SDLC/Agile practices to plan, execute, and track work (e.g., JIRA/Confluence).
  • Ensure deliverables are produced on time, meet requirements, and are properly stored (including meeting minutes).
  • Follow account procedures and governance (e.g., PMO deliverables and required process artifacts).
  • Manage deployments in accordance with established governance procedures.
  • Meet PPQA expectations (peer reviews, routing, keeping required project information current) and address audit defects in required time frames.
  • Maintain and update risk/issue tracking and drive continuous service/deliverable quality.
Required Qualifications

You bring a balance of client‑facing leadership, delivery discipline, and strong communication—along with the ability to manage a small team and keep work moving under pressure.

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: 5+ years of experience in government consulting, including at least 1 year in a client‑facing project management role; experience leading or coordinating day‑to‑day work for a small delivery team.

  • Understanding of project estimation basics and ability to support staffing/forecasting needs.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment under tight timelines.
