The Technical Writer plays a key role in developing and maintaining documentation that facilitates seamless program operations, aligns with CMS/CDC requirements and contractual obligations, and supports knowledge sharing across customer care and operational teams.*
* ** The World Trade Center Health Program is a limited federal health program administered by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Program provides no-cost medical monitoring and treatment for certified WTC-related health conditions to those directly affected by the 9/11 attacks in New York, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.*
* ** HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT** **.*
* ** Create, update, and maintain technical documentation, including full diagram schematics, manuals, and operational procedures to ensure consistency in standards and clarity of processes.*
* ** Develop and maintain comprehensive Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to support project management, workflows, and compliance efforts.*
* ** Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts, to gather and organize technical information.*
* ** Ensure all documentation complies with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.*
* ** Review and edit existing documentation for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with current systems or requirements.*
* ** Maintain records of revisions, version control, and documentation repositories to ensure accessibility and traceability.*
* ** WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED*
* ** Qualifications*
* *
* Education:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or related field. Experience may be substituted for education.*
* ** Minimum of5 years of experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a technology-driven environment.*
* ** Familiarity with industry-standard writing styles or government-specific guidelines.*
* ** Excellent written and verbal communication skills.*
* ** Ability to quickly understand and translate technical information and concepts into clear documentation.*
* ** Experience developing and maintaining POA&Ms or similar project plans.*
* ** Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to identifying gaps or inconsistencies in documentation.*
* ** Familiarity with Agile or ITIL frameworks, as related to technical writing.*

* The likely salary range for this position is $55,806 - $66,700. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
