The Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit designs, integrates, operates, and maintains electronic security services across federal, local, and commercial customers. This role focuses on Physical Access Control, video surveillance, and related IT support.
ResponsibilitiesThe System Administrator 3 supports the SES team by monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic security systems. The position is Tier 2 (escalation) and requires onsite presence in the Washington, D.C. area, flexibility in schedule, and the ability to travel as needed.
- Manage physical security system support calls to meet service level agreements.
- Analyze system performance and recommend improvements.
- Program and coordinate installation of new physical security systems across teams and locations.
- Interpret engineering building drawings and programming sheets for security devices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all system modifications through the ticketing system.
- Resolve complex system issues for physical security systems and networks.
- Document customer correspondence, SOPs, and outage records.
- Triage end‑user and maintenance support calls and provide Tier 2 escalation as needed.
- Communicate with customers, manufacturers, vendors, technicians, and technical specialists.
- Train system users and other support personnel as required.
- Analyze and modify preventive maintenance checklists for system changes.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and implement corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance actions including backups, error log reviews, database size analysis, and integrity checks.
- Document system performance, service request records, and analysis.
- Set up desktop hardware, install operating systems, load imaging software, and update antivirus.
- Support cybersecurity continuous monitoring, including server and workstation patching and STIG remediation.
- U.S. Citizenship required; successful completion of a government security investigation and a Public Trust is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of progressive experience, OR Associate’s Degree and 8+ years, OR HS Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of progressive experience.
- Experience performing triage on system problems, resolving issues, analyzing system data, implementing new workstations, and system extensions.
- At least one access control system certification from a major OEM vendor.
- 5+ years of experience programming/administrating Physical Access Control Systems.
- Previous experience managing small teams.
- Understanding of Windows patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows Active Directory hierarchy and implementation.
- Knowledge of large‑scale networking, VLANs, and routing.
- Reliable attendance at customer site during required work hours.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to obtain Security + Certification, CASP, or CISSP.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Time‑management and organization skills to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Experience in daily system administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and support of JCI P2000.
