Senior Level QA Tester – Fairfax, Virginia, United States
Job DescriptionThe Health and Compliance group at CGI Federal is looking for a Senior Level Software QA Tester who can be part of a large team in a dynamic and changing environment. Projects include software solution development and maintenance for mission‑critical applications in the federal healthcare space. This is a full‑time opportunity to become a member of a stable, growing organization. This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office;
however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
- Lead end‑to‑end QA activities across complex enterprise applications, with a strong focus on CMS Medicare systems and PECOS related functional areas.
- Oversee test planning, test strategy development, test case design, and execution for web, API, and ETL components.
- Direct and mentor QA teams, ensuring consistent application of quality standards, best practices, and continuous improvement processes.
- Coordinate testing efforts across distributed teams while collaborating closely with CMS stakeholders, business analysts, architects, and development teams.
- Define, manage, and refine automation testing frameworks using open‑source tools such as Selenium, Katalon, Cucumber, or similar tools.
- Lead release readiness activities including smoke testing, regression testing, validation, S508 accessibility testing, and UAT facilitation for CMS releases.
- Analyze business and functional requirements to ensure alignment with Medicare/PECOS program rules, compliance needs, and CMS release schedules.
- Provide SME level guidance on CMS Medicare Enrollment (PECOS) workflows, ensuring test coverage across enrollment, provider management, and compliance features.
- Manage defect triage, prioritization, and root‑cause analysis, working closely with developers to ensure timely resolution.
- Review and validate ETL processes and data integrity.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 10 years of hands‑on QA experience, including full SDLC, Agile, and Dev Ops environments.
- Strong, demonstrated experience with CMS Medicare programs and deep functional knowledge of Medicare.
- Extensive experience developing manual and automated test cases for web applications, APIs, backend services, and ETL data flows.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Oracle, and data validation techniques for ETL/warehouse testing.
- Demonstrated ability to lead QA team members, manage release cycles, and coordinate multi‑team testing efforts.
- Experience producing test plans, test strategies, S508 test artifacts, dashboards, and release readiness reports.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience collaborating directly with clients, especially in federal environments such as CMS.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate risks, and ensure compliance with CMS release management processes.
- Prior experience as a QA Lead, SME within CMS Medicare or other federal healthcare programs.
- Hands‑on experience supporting and validating program enhancements, migrations, and release upgrades.
- Familiarity with CMS S508 compliance processes and accessibility validation tools.
- Experience with Informatica or similar ETL tools for data validation and quality checks.
- Working knowledge of technologies such as Java, JBoss, Linux, Cognos, and JIRA/Confluence.
- SAFE Dev Ops certification or similar Agile/Dev Ops credentials.
- Experience developing dashboards, reporting artifacts, and release documentation for federal stakeholders.
- Strong background in identifying process gaps, recommending improvements, and contributing to continuous delivery and quality culture.
- Ability to collaborate in a multi‑vendor environment and coordinate with multiple CMS teams.
