Senior Data Analyst

Location: Alexandria, VA (On-site or Remote)

Contingent Upon Contract Award.

Support artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, and data modernization initiatives within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Research and Development (ORD). Focus on research portfolio analysis, operational reporting, AI-enabled analytics, and development of scalable data capabilities.

• Support analytics and reporting activities for enterprise AI, research, and operational modernization initiatives
• Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, data visualizations, and operational analytics
• Perform data extraction, transformation, analysis, validation, and reporting across multiple enterprise data sources
• Develop and optimize ETL workflows, reporting processes, and analytics activities
• Conduct statistical programming, data analysis, and operational reporting
• Support AI-enabled analytics initiatives including large language models (LLMs) and retrieval workflows
• Develop scalable analytics workflows and rapid testing approaches
• Integrate and analyze data from research systems, operational platforms, databases, and cloud-based environments
• Collaborate with stakeholders to support AI pilots and analytics initiatives
• Support data quality management and continuous improvement
• Prepare summaries, presentations, and executive-level reports for technical and non-technical audiences

• Experience with SQL, Python, ETL processes, databases, and analytics/reporting environments
• Experience developing dashboards, reports, data visualizations, or BI solutions
• Experience with cloud-based analytics, data warehouse, or data lake environments
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, LLMs, or AI-enabled analytics workflows
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience with data quality management and validation
• Ability to communicate technical findings to executive and non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment managing multiple priorities
• Ability to obtain and maintain public trust clearance
• Legal authorization to work in the United States
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must pass a Federal background check
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment

• Experience with VA, VHA, federal healthcare, research, or enterprise analytics environments
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar BI/visualization platforms
• Experience with AI-enabled analytics, retrieval workflows, or data-driven reporting solutions
• Familiarity with REDCap, healthcare data systems, or research data environments
• Experience with operational analytics, portfolio analysis, or reporting modernization initiatives
• Familiarity with Azure or AWS cloud platforms
• Experience in fast-paced, matrixed environments supporting multiple priorities
• High degree of professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive information

Required: Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, healthcare informatics, mathematics, public health, or related field

Desired: Master’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, healthcare informatics, mathematics, public health, or related field

Required: 8+ years supporting data analytics, reporting, statistical programming, or enterprise data operations in a complex organization

Desired: 12+ years supporting data analytics, reporting, statistical programming, or enterprise data operations in a complex organization
