Position: AFMS3 Sr. DevSecOps Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Dev Ops Engineer to drive infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD pipeline engineering across our cloud environments. This role owns the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of Terraform‑managed infrastructure and the automated build/test/deploy pipelines that ship it, working closely with development and platform teams to increase deployment velocity, reliability, and security. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on engineer who can independently design and deliver infrastructure and pipeline solutions with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
  • Design, build, and maintain modular, reusable Terraform code for provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure across dev, staging, and production environments.

  • Implement and enforce Terraform state management, workspace strategy, and module versioning to support multiple teams safely.

  • Establish and follow IaC best practices: code review standards, automated plan/apply workflows, drift detection, and policy‑as‑code guardrails.

  • Identify and remediate technical debt in existing infrastructure code to improve maintainability, security, and cost efficiency.

  • Collaborate with architecture and security teams to ensure infrastructure design aligns with security baselines and compliance requirements.

CI/CD Pipeline Engineering
  • Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, security scanning, and deployment of applications and infrastructure changes.

  • Standardize pipeline patterns across teams/repositories to reduce duplication and increase deployment reliability and speed.

  • Implement deployment safety mechanisms: automated testing gates, canary/blue‑green deployments, rollback automation, and release approvals.

  • Partner with development teams to identify and remove build/deploy friction, shortening lead time from commit to production.

  • Monitor pipeline health and performance, proactively resolving bottlenecks and failures.

General Engineering & Operations
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response for infrastructure and deployment‑related issues; contribute to blameless postmortems and follow‑through on action items.

  • Document infrastructure designs, pipeline architectures, and operational runbooks for team use.

  • Mentor junior engineers on Terraform and CI/CD best practices as opportunities arise.

  • Stay current with evolving Terraform, cloud provider, and CI/CD ecosystem capabilities, and bring recommendations back to the team.

Required Qualifications
  • Active DoW Secret clearance (or higher) required at time of hire.

  • 5+ years of Dev Ops/infrastructure engineering experience.

  • Deep, hands‑on production experience with Terraform for infrastructure‑as‑code across multi‑environment cloud deployments.

  • Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab CI, Jenkins, Code Pipeline, or similar).

  • Strong working knowledge of core cloud services (networking, IAM, load balancing, monitoring/logging).

  • Experience with version control workflows (Git) and code review practices for infrastructure and pipeline code.

  • Solid scripting/automation ability (Bash, Python, or similar) to support pipeline and infrastructure tooling.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to document and explain technical decisions clearly.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with policy‑as‑code tools (Sentinel, OPA/Conftest) and Terraform automation platforms (Terraform Cloud/Enterprise).

  • Experience with containerized workloads (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes) as pipeline deployment targets.

  • Familiarity with observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog, Cloud Watch) for infrastructure and pipeline monitoring.

  • Relevant certifications (Hashi Corp Terraform Associate, AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer, or equivalent).

  • Prior experience supporting federal, DoD, including familiarity with STIGs/CIS benchmarks and RMF processes.

The likely salary range for this position is $112,840 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall…
