Our client is a privately held real estate organization based in the Mid-Atlantic region. The Assistant Risk Manager will support the Vice President of Risk Management in overseeing and coordinating the organization's corporate insurance programs and enterprise risk management initiatives. This role requires collaboration across various departments to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, ensuring comprehensive risk management strategies are effectively implemented.

This is a direct hire full time position, onsite, based in Fairfax, VA, with a salary range of $105,000-$122,500 per year.

Responsibilities:

Assist in managing and coordinating corporate insurance policies, claims, renewals, and negotiations.
Support the development and execution of enterprise risk management initiatives to identify exposures and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
Collaborate with stakeholders across departments to evaluate current risk procedures and recommend improvements.
Assist in the preparation of reports, audits, and documentation related to risk management activities.
Monitor regulatory compliance related to insurance and risk management policies.
Support the analysis of risk data to identify trends and develop strategies to minimize potential liabilities.
Liaise with insurance brokers, underwriters, and external vendors to facilitate insurance coverage and claims processes.
Participate in risk assessment workshops and incident investigations as needed.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in managing corporate insurance programs, including policy management and claims handling.
Strong understanding of enterprise risk management principles and practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, brokers, and external vendors.
Ability to analyze risk data, prepare reports, and support risk mitigation strategies.
Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to insurance and risk management.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.

Preferred qualifications:

Relevant professional certifications such as CRM (Certified Risk Manager), ARM (Associate in Risk Management), or CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter).
Prior experience working in the real estate or property management industry.
Knowledge of insurance law and contractual risk transfer techniques.
Experience supporting enterprise risk management initiatives in a corporate environment.
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work setting, balancing onsite and remote responsibilities.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
