Overview
Fancy Cats Rescue Team is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The organization has over 25 years of experience, founded in August 1997 by Cathy Awad, and partners with Pet Smart Adoption Centers and Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe & Wine Bar. We provide adoption, rescue and education services by finding suitable lifetime homes for our cats, rescuing cats on death row at local shelters, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership.
We aspire to offer in-house spay and neuter services. We live by our core values of integrity, compassion for all life, respect for our cats and our community, and teamwork. Our volunteers and staff are recognized for responsibility, dedication, knowledge and helpful service.
We are looking for an experienced cat care provider to clean cages and care for our cats in the intake area at the Director's home. This is a private residence in Fairfax, not far from Fair Lakes Pet Smart. We oversee a population of about 30 cats in this area at a time, including those receiving medical treatment, waiting for spay/neuter, or awaiting space at a store, foster home, or Mount Purrnon Cat Cafe & Wine Bar.
Most of the cats are friendly and need TLC, cage tidying, litter box scooping and feeding. If you have time to play, that is a plus. There is a longtime teen volunteer on Saturdays and an experienced volunteer on Sundays who need help. Teens are welcome. Weekday hours are 9–11 am.
- Clean cages and maintain a clean intake area for cats in care.
- Provide feeding, litter box maintenance, and basic daily care for cats.
- Assist with socialization and enrichment as time allows.
- Coordinate with volunteers and the director to support care needs.
- Extremely experienced cat care provider with ability to manage a high-need intake area.
- Available on Saturdays (teen volunteers) and Sundays (experienced volunteers) as part of the team.
- Ability to work weekday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:00 am.
- Willingness to work in a private residence setting in Fairfax, near Fair Lakes.
