Client Relationship Management, Business Development
As a Benefits Consultant, you will help organizations build and maintain employee benefits strategies that support their workforce while contributing to the agency's continued growth. This role combines business development, client consulting, and relationship management, allowing you to serve as a trusted advisor to employers navigating an increasingly complex benefits landscape.
You will manage the full client lifecycle while developing new business opportunities, delivering strategic benefits guidance, and helping clients make informed decisions about their employee benefits programs. Working closely with carriers, internal service teams, and employer groups, you will play a key role in creating strong client partnerships and delivering exceptional service experiences.
How You'll Make an Impact- Generate new business opportunities through networking, prospecting activities, referrals, and consultative sales presentations.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of prospects to consistently achieve growth and revenue objectives.
- Manage client relationships throughout the full lifecycle, including onboarding, renewals, implementation activities, and ongoing service needs.
- Lead client-facing meetings such as renewal presentations, claims reviews, benchmarking discussions, employee enrollment sessions, and strategic planning conversations.
- Provide guidance on employee benefits programs, compliance considerations, cost-management strategies, and market trends.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships through cross-selling, upselling, and expanded service offerings.
- Partner with internal teams and carrier representatives to ensure a seamless client experience and successful execution of key initiatives.
- You are a relationship-focused professional who enjoys helping organizations solve complex benefits challenges.

- You maintain professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in every client interaction.
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in sales, consulting, employee benefits, or a related field
- Active Virginia Life & Health Insurance License
- Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, plan design considerations, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to generate new business opportunities and cultivate long-term client relationships
- Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills
- Strong organizational, time-management, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and benefits administration platforms
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional ethical standards
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Marketing, or a related field
- Registered Employee Benefits Consultant (REBC) designation
- Experience leading renewals, claims reviews, benchmarking analyses, and employee enrollment meetings
- Established relationships within the Virginia business community or employee benefits marketplace
- Experience supporting growth initiatives through networking, referral development, and strategic business planning
- Knowledge of emerging employee benefits trends, technology solutions, and workforce engagement strategies
