Job DescriptionAs a Fire Alarm Technician at Capitol Alarm Services, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of fire alarm systems and other life safety/low voltage systems at various locations. Main types of buildings will include multifamily, mixed use, high rise, hotels and assisted living applications. Your work will be key in ensuring that systems meet the necessary fire safety codes and provide reliable protection for our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Install, service, and maintain fire alarm systems, including control panels, initiating devices, and notification devices.
- Troubleshoot and repair fire alarm systems, identifying and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Assist with programming fire alarm systems according to specifications and industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with all fire safety codes, regulations, and standards, including NFPA and local codes.
- Assist with the installation of Two Way Communication, Access Control and CCTV systems.
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain issues, recommend solutions, and provide training on system usage.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, inspections, repairs, and system configurations.
- Respond to service calls as needed.
- Collaborate with senior technicians and project managers to ensure smooth installations and repairs.
- Perform regular inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance to ensure fire alarm systems are functioning correctly.
- 2+ years of experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a related field.
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems (Potter Signal & Honeywell).
- Familiarity with fire alarm codes and regulations (NFPA, NEC).
- Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and test fire alarm systems.
- Strong communication skills, both with clients and team members.
- Basic understanding of electrical wiring and schematic reading.
- NICET Level I or II certification in Fire Alarm Systems is a plus but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in various physical environments.
