Nightwing is seeking a cleared and experienced Baseband Installer/Field Engineer in the Fairfax, VA area to support USG. The selected candidate will be responsible for repairing, testing, and deploying devices in support of a global network. Work as a member of a team installing and maintaining a host of today’s latest communication systems and complex networks. Expected to work in remote autonomous environments across the globe and collaborate with a diverse cadre of IT Operational Specialists, LAN/WAN Engineers and Facility management and Logistical professionals.

Travel OCONUS to conduct site surveys as well as install/repair equipment with relation to network/facilities equipment and specifications. Design, update and record all areas of system installations and connectivity, using Customer procedures and direction. Train customers in the operation of equipment and testing of installed systems. Compose, review, and provide updates to technical documentation.

• Evaluate sites for the installation of equipment
• Install applicable equipment (with racks if needed)
• Perform onsite testing of equipment and coordinate with other engineers
• Install and connect applicable cables
• Coordinate pick-up and delivery of equipment
• Troubleshoot network connectivity issues
• Repair, test, and deploy devices in support of a global network
• Design, update, and record system installations and connectivity
• Train customers and provide technical documentation

• 6+ years’ experience as a field engineer supporting technical programs, with emphasis on specific systems and technology expertise
• Experience in IP related services: TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, PPP, SIP
• Experience installing and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
• Experience with UPS systems and AC/DC power systems, including installation and connection
• Working knowledge of CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cable, connectors, and capability to fabricate required equipment
• Experience using Remedy, Visio, and MS Office
• Ability to perform physical tasks: reach, stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, lift or move up to 50 pounds or more
• Expert knowledge in deploying, installing, and maintaining servers, routers, switches, telecommunications systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware
• Ability to independently complete complex assignments without direction
• Troubleshoot difficult and complex problems while in the field to complete installation successfully
• Ensure that systems are implemented on schedule

• Understanding of customer field environment
• Experience with OCONUS travel

Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph from day one of employment and be crossover eligible.
