Overview
IAP World Services, an Intrepid Global Solutions company, is a recognized leader in Facilities Management and Operations in support of Defense, Intelligence, and National Security missions. Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs;
engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.
- As the Plumber, assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations; inspect structures to identify obstructions and avoid weakening the structure.
- Locate and mark positions of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors; cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools.
- Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine; bend pipe to required angle with a pipe-bending machine or by manual bending.
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals (iron, steel, brass, lead) and nonmetals (glass, vitrified clay, plastic).
- Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks; fill the pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine leaks.
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures (sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, water softeners); repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers, mending burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains; weld holding fixtures to steel structural members as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Master or Journeyman Plumber License
- 5+ years of related plumbing experience
Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
