Fairfax County Department of Family Services is seeking a dedicated and trauma-informed Social Worker to provide specialized support to adolescents impacted by domestic violence, sexual abuse, exploitation, and high‑risk family dynamics.
This role is essential in ensuring safety, advocacy, crisis intervention, and comprehensive case management for vulnerable youth and their families. The Social Worker will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary partners, including law enforcement, schools, clinicians, medical providers, and community agencies.
Key Responsibilities- Provide trauma‑informed case management for adolescents experiencing domestic violence, sexual abuse, or high‑risk home environments.
- Conduct safety assessments, risk evaluations, and crisis interventions.
- Deliver supportive counseling and connect youth/families to appropriate community resources and treatment programs.
- Facilitate referrals for forensic interviews, SART exams, emergency housing, mental health services, and victim advocacy.
- Work collaboratively with internal county units and external partners to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and reports according to county and state guidelines.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, court proceedings, and case staffing when required.
- Advocate for survivor safety, well‑being, and long‑term stabilization.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field (MSW preferred).
- Experience working with adolescents impacted by trauma, abuse, or domestic violence.
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, crisis response, and mandated reporting procedures.
- Strong communication, relationship‑building, and de‑escalation skills.
- Ability to collaborate with culturally diverse families and community partners.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within Fairfax County.
- Experience with in a local Department of Social Services or Child Welfare agency.
- Familiarity with Virginia CPS policies, SART protocols, and community‑based victim service networks.
- Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply (Spanish, Dari, Arabic, Amharic, Korean, etc.).
- Full‑time, Monday–Friday
- Hybrid or on‑site schedule depending on program needs
- Occasional on‑call or emergency response may be required
