About the Organization
Community Living Alternatives (CLA) Corp is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization founded in 1987 that provides residential support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Northern Virginia.
CLA operates 12 homes for 42 individuals, promoting development of daily living skills, community participation, and family involvement. We collaborate with county support coordinators, families, and experts to create person‑centered plans. Relationships are the foundation of our work, emphasizing dignity, respect, choice, and collaboration.
PositionDirect Support Professional
Rate of Pay
: $18.00/hr + $1 weekend differential rate from Saturday 8 am to Sunday 11 pm.
Schedule
:
Friday 11 pm–9 am, Saturday 9 pm–9 am, Sunday 9 pm–9 am.
- Bring joy into the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Assess activities and physical space for risks (physical or emotional) and provide necessary support.
- Communicate verbally and in writing about activities and safety.
- Support adults in finding, engaging, and advocating for joy independently.
- Accountable and honest.
- Can lift up to 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Team player, patient, and flexible.

Must regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, taste or smell, talk or hear. May occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must lift up to 50 pounds and provide physical support to individuals weighing 200 pounds or more. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focusing.
