Vocational Counselor – Fairfax, VA

We’re seeking a compassionate, driven, and organized Vocational Counselor to help veterans and individuals with disabilities pursue career goals, find meaningful employment, and succeed in the workplace.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide individualized career counseling, planning, and employment support.
  • Help individuals identify their strengths, interests, skills, and career goals.
  • Assist with resumes, applications, interviews, job readiness, and workplace skills.
  • Develop employment opportunities through job development and employer outreach.
  • Provide job coaching, onboarding support, and follow-up to promote job retention.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, families, referral partners, and community organizations.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, service records, and documentation.
  • Manage an assigned caseload while meeting service and documentation deadlines.
  • Work independently throughout the surrounding communities.
What You Bring

Required:
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a community-based setting.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with current insurance.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the service area.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screenings.
  • Basic computer skills.
Preferred experience includes:
  • Vocational rehabilitation or supported employment.
  • Disability or human services.
  • Career counseling or coaching.
  • Case management.
  • Workforce development.
  • Recruiting or employer engagement.
  • Job coaching or employment services.
  • Experience working with veterans.
  • Experience in education, customer service, caregiving, workforce development, or other people-focused roles can provide valuable transferable skills.
