Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is currently seeking a Senior Test Automation Developer to work out of their Fairfax, Virginia office. This position is part of the overall United States Postal Service (USPS) applications development team, which is responsible for developing, testing and maintaining applications to support the business functions of the organization. The successful candidate will have expert level knowledge of automation test tools and will participate in the planning, designing, maintenance and running of automated tests in a fast‑paced environment requiring complex test automation programming techniques.

This role requires proficiency and strong hands‑on experience in developing test scripts using Micro Focus’s Unified Functional Testing (UFT) tool and advanced programming using VBScript. Additional experience in any one or more of micro services‑based architecture, API testing, REST, Maven, performance test tools, Apache Kafka, Git, C# programming, Java programming, and Selenium is desirable.

• Participate in defining and applying the automation strategy in the development and maintenance of automation frameworks, solutions, and test scripts.
• Accelerate development of advanced, complex, and comprehensive automated test scripts both from scratch and by leveraging existing frameworks.
• Develop and modify automated test scripts to conditionally run in multiple test, development, and production environments.
• Provide software system testing support, verify code, and certify that all deliverables meet customer requirements and are free of defects across the SDLC.
• Partake in occasional software deployment testing, regression testing, script development, performance testing, and performance analysis, which may occur outside normal working hours.
• Participate in Agile team activities such as daily scrums, task creation, and working on user stories.
• Work closely with software engineers and other project team members to assess ongoing development within demanding schedules, and produce test cases and other documentation.
• Design and prepare test plans and related test case scenarios based on documented and sometimes undocumented system requirements and business rules, including positive and negative test cases and regression test procedures.
• Create and maintain the documentation of test cases and test results and participate in defect reviews to uphold quality criteria.
• Enter and manage defects in an automated defect tracking system, ensuring that all defects are entered with adequate information and work with development teams to identify root causes.

• 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; 7 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of related experience in a technical field (e.g., engineering, mathematics, statistics, computer science) plus at least 5 years of professional experience.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in automated test development and/or microservices development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop complex solutions and algorithms in VBScript and to use Micro Focus’s Unified Functional Testing (UFT) tool in a multi-tier internet‑based network topology.
• Advanced UFT skills in creating, modifying, and managing Actions, Function Libraries, Object Repositories, driver scripts, etc.
• Thorough knowledge of VBScript programming principles and advanced VBScript skills including complex functions, class objects, arrays, dictionary objects, and object instantiation.
• Strong familiarity with Microsoft Windows registry, HTML syntax, JavaScript functions, event attributes, DOM, and XML data structures.
• Hands‑on experience with Unit, Functional, System, Regression, Performance, Load, and other testing types.
