Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is currently seeking a Senior Test Automation Developer at Fairfax, Virginia. This position is part of the overall United States Postal Service (USPS) applications development team, responsible for developing, testing, and maintaining applications to support the business functions of USPS. The successful candidate will have expert‑level knowledge of automation test tools and will participate in the planning, designing, maintenance, and running of automated tests in a fast‑paced environment requiring highly complex test automation programming techniques.

Proficiency and strong hands‑on experience in developing test scripts using Micro Focus’s Unified Functional Testing (UFT) tool and advanced VBScript programming are required. Desirable experience: micro services‑based architecture, API testing, REST, Maven, performance test tools, Apache Kafka, Git, C# programming, Java programming, and Selenium.

• Participate in defining and applying the automation strategy in the development and maintenance of automation frameworks, solutions and test scripts.
• Accelerated development of advanced, complex, and comprehensive automated test scripts from scratch and by utilizing existing frameworks.
• Develop and modify automated test scripts to conditionally run in multiple test, development, and production environments.
• Provide software system testing support, verify code and certify that all deliverables meet customer requirements and are free of defects across the SDLC.
• Participate in occasional software deployment testing, regression testing, script development, performance testing, performance analysis, etc., which may occur outside of normal working hours.
• Participate in Agile team activities such as daily scrums, creating tasks, working on user stories, etc.
• Work closely with software engineers and other project team members to test and assess ongoing development within demanding schedules, producing test cases and other project documentation.
• Design and prepare test plans and related test case scenarios based on documented and sometimes undocumented system requirements and/or business rules.
• Create and maintain documentation of test cases and test results and participate in defect reviews to ensure quality criteria are upheld.
• Enter and manage defects in an automated defect tracking system with adequate information to assist developers in reproducing problems, and work with the development teams to identify root causes.

• Minimum of 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a Ph.D. or Juris Doctor; or High School Diploma with 13 years relevant experience.

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) plus at least five (5) years of professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years dedicated primarily to automated test development and/or micro services development.
• Demonstrated ability to develop complex solutions and algorithms using VBScript.
• Experience using Micro Focus UFT for varied applications on a three‑tier internet‑based network.
• Advanced UFT skills in creating, modifying, managing Actions, Function Libraries, Object Repositories, driver scripts, etc.
• Comprehensive knowledge of VBScript programming principles, conditional statements, loops, variable types, creating complex functions, custom classes, arrays, dictionaries, object instantiation.
• Strong familiarity with MS Windows registry, HTML syntax, JavaScript functions, DOM, XML data structures, etc.
• Hands‑on experience with testing types:
  Unit, Functional, System, Regression, Performance, Load.
• Experience with a software defect management tool – preferably HP ALM (Quality Center).
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
