Job Overview

GDIT has an opportunity for a Salesforce Developer to support the modernization and sustainment of a large portfolio of enterprise business solutions used by NASA. The position supports a new program, the NASA Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS), which consolidates enterprise‑wide applications and platform services across the Agency and supports the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Application Division transformation into the Application and Platform Service (APS) Line with agile‑based service delivery and IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL)‑based service management practices.

The Salesforce Developer will be responsible for creating custom software applications on the Salesforce platform that meet NASA’s specific requirements and will also integrate Salesforce with existing systems, ensuring data accuracy and security and providing technical support whenever required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create custom and out‑of‑box Salesforce solutions that align with business requirements and drive customer success.
  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable and robust Salesforce applications.
  • Build custom objects, workflows, and triggers to meet functional needs.
  • Work closely with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and Project Managers to understand client needs and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and fellow developers to identify system improvements and implement enhancements.
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Conduct code reviews, performance tuning, and optimization to maintain high‑quality solutions.
  • Create and maintain seamless integrations with other applications and systems using web services and APIs.
  • Provide ongoing support, maintenance, and enhancements for existing Salesforce applications to meet evolving business needs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues to maintain the stability and performance of Salesforce applications.
  • Ensure compliance with Salesforce security and development standards.
  • Write and test high‑quality code to build custom objects, workflows, and automation processes.
  • Develop and integrate Salesforce applications with other systems for streamlined functionality.
  • Leverage out‑of‑the‑box features and maintain strong knowledge of roles, profiles, sharing rules, permission sets, visibility rules, flows, org‑wide defaults, page layouts, reports, and dashboards.
  • Serve as a technical expert within the organization, contributing to the success of Salesforce initiatives.
  • Deliver high‑quality, innovative solutions that enhance project success and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of hands‑on experience designing, coding, testing, and implementing Salesforce applications.
  • Proficiency with Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Aura Components, Visualforce, SOQL, and SOSL.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce development tools and platform features, including declarative development and customization best practices.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce integrations using REST, SOAP APIs, and other web service platforms.
  • Experience creating detailed technical documentation, configuration workbooks, and test‑driven development reports.
  • Proficiency with modern web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web Components; front‑end frameworks such as Angular or React are a plus.
  • Strong experience with Source Control Management (SCM) and Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools.
  • Expertise in Dev Sec Ops  practices and familiarity with Git and CI/CD processes for Salesforce.
  • Experienced in Agile/Scrum methodologies, including project planning, sprint cycles, and iterative development.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in team environments and independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
  • Salesforce certifications such as Admin, Advanced Admin, Platform Developer I/II, App Builder, and cloud‑specific consultant certifications.
  • Experience with JavaScript Developer certifications.
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops and continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) processes and Git Lab.
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) knowledge and experience.
Compensation

The likely salary range for this position is $128,039 - $173,229. Salary will be determined based on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
