Are you a Systems Engineer with a software development background looking to work on complex, mission-critical systems within the Intelligence Community?
We are supporting a specialist technology organization in the Defense space, looking to add Systems Engineers to its teams in Fairfax, VA OR Denver, CO.
This isn't a traditional requirements-heavy Systems Engineering position. You'll work closely with software engineers, security teams and customers, helping modernise legacy systems, solve integration challenges and support the transition of applications into modern, cloud-native environments.
You'll have the opportunity to remain hands-on technically while taking greater ownership of technical roadmaps, architecture and delivery.
What you'll be doing- Work across software, systems, security and customer teams to solve technical and integration challenges
- Support the modernisation and migration of legacy applications into containerised environments
- Understand software and system architectures and contribute technically where required
- Help develop roadmaps and remove technical blockers across programmes
- Support systems integration, testing and implementation
- Work with technologies and practices including Kubernetes, Docker and Dev Sec Ops
- Use Jira and Confluence to coordinate and document technical work
- Contribute to technical leadership as your experience develops
- Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility or higher
- 5+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of software development and software/system architecture
- Demonstrated programming or scripting experience
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern application environments
- Experience working across engineering teams, customers and other technical stakeholders
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in complex technical environments
- Integration & Test (I&T) experience
- Previous IPT Lead or technical team leadership experience
- Kubernetes, Docker, Helm or other container technologies
- Dev Sec Ops / CI/CD experience
- Python, Bash or similar scripting/programming languages
- Jira and Confluence
- Previous Intelligence Community or NRO experience
- Experience modernising legacy applications for cloud or containerised environments
This could be a particularly strong fit for a mid-level Systems Engineer, Software-focused Systems Engineer, Integration Engineer or IPT/Technical Lead who wants to broaden their technical ownership and move toward technical leadership without stepping away from the engineering.
