Our client, an industrial manufacturer of machined steel parts, has an immediate need for an experienced CNC Machinist
, to join their winning team in Fairfield.
Our candidate of choice will be a CNC and Manual Machinist who can independently manufacture precision components from engineering drawings. This is not a machine operator position. We are looking for true machinists who understand machining processes, can interpret blueprints, and possess the knowledge and critical thinking required to produce complex parts. Candidates with experience programming CNC machines directly from prints and those comfortable machining and handling large, heavy components are especially encouraged to apply.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Set up and machine precision parts to required specifications.
- Program CNC machines directly from drawings (CAD/CAM programming experience is not required).
- Select appropriate tooling, machining strategies, and inspection methods.
- Perform machine setups, prove out programs, and make necessary adjustments.
- Operate CNC and/or manual mills and lathes.
- Inspect finished parts to ensure dimensional accuracy and quality.
- Safely handle and machine large, heavy work pieces using overhead cranes and rigging equipment when required.
- Extensive experience programming CNC machines from engineering drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining strategies for complex parts.
- Experience operating large CNC machining centers.
- Experience machining large components weighing 20,000 to 50,000 pounds.
- Comfortable using cranes, rigging equipment, and proper lifting techniques.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision from day one.
- Able to read and interpret blueprints with confidence.
- Experience setting up and machining parts on manual mills, Bridgeport-style mills, manual lathes, or smaller CNC equipment.
- Understanding of machining principles and willingness to continue developing advanced CNC programming skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
