Job Description

HWI has a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II.

The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician II ensures equipment and machinery are functioning properly, performs routine preventative maintenance using a work order system, and trains production technicians on adjustments and calibrations. The role also follows up on diagnostics and repairs as needed.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings to diagnose, repair, troubleshoot, and improve both electrical and mechanical systems. Perform general millwright skills such as welding, cutting, fabrication, rigging, and troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, HVAC systems; install electrical controls; start up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair control panels, instruments, telemetry, SCADA systems; program VFDs, PLCs, and HMI systems (including Siemens and Allen Bradley).
• Work with OEM and technical literature to set up Preventive, Systematic, Predictive, and Critical Spares maintenance. Develop and sustain maintenance systems applying standard PM principles; ensure all planned, PM, and unplanned maintenance tasks are performed promptly and on‑time. Support implementation and sustainment of the Work Order Management System.
• Apply 5S principles and take part in 5S activities throughout the plant. Continuously propose actions to improve housekeeping and organization. Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing principles to remove waste and non‑value activity. Suggest alternative technical and mechanical solutions to meet company and customer requirements more efficiently and with greater reusability or longer life. Control downtime by informing production technicians of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
  
  Document and communicate actions, irregularities, and continuing needs; understand and own reliability metrics and machine performance (Uptime, MTBF, PM% completion); propose and execute projects to improve performance.
• Comply with established facility safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, and other applicable regulations. Write and update Safe Operating Procedures. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations, and by identifying, reporting, and correcting at‑risk situations and behaviors.
• Train production technicians to perform routine maintenance and adjustments to machinery and act as a technical resource to production technicians.

• High school diploma.
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles.
• Understanding and interpretation of reliability metrics.
• Interpersonal skills for dealing with coworkers, contractors, and vendors; mechanical aptitude.
• Five (5) years of experience working with PLCs (Siemens S5 and Allen Bradley Prologic).
• Strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
• Strong computer skills and prior experience using online work order/preventative maintenance tracking systems.
• Five (5) years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience in a highly automated, batching environment.
• Track record of maintaining technical competency and staying current with technology and industry changes.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team with people of varying skills and backgrounds.
• Self‑starter with excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures (e.g., lockout/tagout).
