Tax Ace is a growing accounting and tax firm looking for an experienced CPA to join our team.
This is a great opportunity for a California-licensed CPA who enjoys a mix of tax review, accounting oversight, client advisory, compliance support, and team collaboration. Position Summary
CPA will provide advanced accounting, tax compliance, review, advisory, and client support services for Tax Ace. This role will review individual and business tax returns, support tax planning, assist with IRS and California tax matters, review financial reports, and help maintain firm quality standards.
This position requires an active California CPA license, strong tax and accounting knowledge, professional judgment, confidentiality, and the ability to support both clients and internal team members.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include:
- Review individual and business tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Provide tax planning and advisory support for individuals, business owners, and entity clients
- Review financial statements, bookkeeping reports, reconciliations, and year-end tax-ready financials
- Assist with IRS, FTB, EDD, CDTFA, and other tax agency notices or representation matters
- Support tax compliance procedures, deadlines, documentation, and quality control
- Conduct client consultations and explain tax matters in a clear, professional manner
- Identify tax risks, planning opportunities, and client advisory needs
- Support SOPs, checklists, review standards, and internal process improvements
- Maintain professional ethics, confidentiality, licensing requirements, and data security standards
- Support business development through client education, advisory recommendations, and service expansion opportunities
- Escalate high-risk tax, accounting, legal, or ethical concerns to firm leadership

Required qualifications:
- Active California CPA license
- Strong technical tax and accounting knowledge
- Experience reviewing individual and business tax returns
- Experience with tax compliance, accounting review, or client advisory work
- Strong professional judgment and problem-solving skills
- Excellent client communication and relationship management skills
- Ability to review complex tax and accounting work
- Strong ethics, confidentiality, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and seasonal workload
- Ability to identify risk and escalate concerns appropriately
- Ability to support internal team members and contribute to process improvement
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in a tax, accounting, or CPA firm environment
- Experience with California tax matters
- Experience with IRS, FTB, EDD, or CDTFA notices
- Experience reviewing bookkeeping reports, reconciliations, and tax-ready financials
- Experience mentoring, training, or supporting accounting and tax team members
- Experience with tax planning and advisory services for business owners
Work Environment
The role requires working at a computer for extended periods, communicating by phone, email, video, and written message, reviewing digital and paper documents, and using standard office equipment. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as required by law.
Confidentiality and Data Security
Because this role handles sensitive client tax, financial, payroll, business, and personally identifiable information, must follow Tax Ace’s confidentiality and data security policies.
This includes following firm procedures related to secure communication, password and MFA requirements, secure file-sharing, approved client communication methods, the firm’s Written Information Security Plan, IRS Publication 4557 standards, and FTC Safeguards Rule procedures.
