Overview
Solano County Department of Information Technology (DoIT) provides customer-oriented and convenient access to information and services through the use of technology; anytime - anywhere. The County strives for cost-effective use of technology, with interactive exchange and sharing of data within departments, with constituents, with other governments and business partners. The guiding principles of DoIT are:
Support and facilitate access to County information for the public and its employees and to help the County conduct its business in a fast and easy manner
Support the business goals of the County in an efficient, cost-effective manner
Provide safe and secure systems and an integration mechanism to streamline business practices
Provide ongoing technology training for staff
Provide opportunities for constituents to utilize technology in their interaction with the County
Share and exchange information using multiple channels
Under close supervision, performs a variety of routine clerical work in support of County election practices; receives and processes information relevant to County elections and voter registration; performs related work as required.
This extra help class is characterized by its seasonal utilization by the Registrar of Voters’ office. Incumbents must possess basic clerical skills, and have the responsibility to perform clerical tasks and to apply general knowledge regarding elections and voter registration. Incumbents work within a framework of established procedures and are expected to perform clerical tasks with general instructions and assistance. The job requires the straightforward application of readily understood rules and procedures.
Incumbents may have routine contact with the public, both in person and on the telephone, and are required to answer procedural questions and give out factual information. The Elections Clerk is distinguished from the Elections Technician I by the routine nature of the general clerical office support performed. Job duties can be learned from simple multi-step instructions or demonstrations of moderate repetition.
This recruitment is intended to fill Elections Clerk (Extra-Help) vacancies. Extra-help employees do not have rights to a regular position or continued employment and are excluded from civil service. The hours worked may be part-time or full-time, but hours cannot exceed more than 999 hours in a fiscal year. We currently have 25 Elections Clerk (Extra-Help) vacancies in the Department of Information Technology we are filling.
Note:
All CalPERS retirees applying for Extra Help positions must meet CalPERS post retirement employment requirements. Work must be performed for a limited duration and retiree annuitant may not work more than 960 hours per fiscal year.

Education and ExperienceEducation: High school diploma or GED preferred
Experience: Three (3) months full-time work experience performing clerical tasks that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.
Supplemental Information- Incumbents in this class must have the ability to learn specific knowledge related to the Registrar of Voters’ office.
- Recruiting requirements may be set to test typing or data entry speed; however, these skills are not the primary areas to be measured in the selection process.
