THE POSITIONUnder general supervisor, performs a variety of routine clerical support work in the processing of legal and other official documents such as court actions, subpoenas, criminal warrants; performs related duties as required.
This is the entry level in the Legal Procedures Clerk series in which incumbents must possess basic clerical skills. This position is characterized by the responsibility for the preparation, processing and recording of legal and other official documents such as court actions, subpoenas, criminal warrants, legal descriptions and official notices. It is distinguished from the Legal Procedures Clerk in that the fatter is the journey level working independently, and has responsibility for more technical aspects of the work and more discretion in decision making.
This position does require candidates to participate in a law enforcement background check. Interested candidates must complete and submit a personal history statement prior to receiving an invitation to interview. The department uses the 2-255 Personal History Statement – Public Safety Dispatcher form found for all non-sworn classifications. The department will reach out to you to facilitate the Personal History Statement.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur in the Probation Department and Sheriffs Office. The Solano County Probation Department currently has three (3) full-time vacancies.
Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or GED.
- Three (3) months of full-time clerical work experience.
Applicants are required to demonstrate a net typing speed of forty (40) words per minute.
Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required.

05/15/2026 - 5:00pm Deadline to submit application and required documents for the final application review.
Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed.
Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses.
