Office Specialist
The City of Fairfield is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Office Specialist to join the Human Resources Team. This position is considered a pro rata position at 50% benefit level (20-24 hour week). This position performs specialized, confidential, and technical administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment. The role provides high-level support to internal staff while assisting members of the public. It includes a range of clerical and organizational tasks that require professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Working conditions work is generally performed in an office setting. Pressures may be generated by deadlines, volume of work, frequent interruptions, or seasonal work periods.
Depending upon department assigned to, some positions may require working shift work, weekends and holidays. Physical demands work may include prolonged sitting and standing, as well as light to moderate lifting, reaching, stooping, and pulling. Manual dexterity, clear (understandable) speech, visual and hearing acuity are also required. This is the specialist level in the office support series, with responsibilities including the performance of complex or difficult office support work requiring the use of independent judgment or the application of technical or related skills.
Positions in this class function with more independence and autonomy than an Office Assistant II and are frequently the only clerical support in a major organizational unit. Lead direction of others may be required, or project or relief leadership. Depending upon department assigned to, may report to a supervisor, manager, or department head. May receive guidance or direction from department administrative assistant.
Experience and education experience:
Three (3) years of general clerical or office support experience is required.
Education:
Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade is required. Some college or business school course work in office administration is desirable. Other requirements may require the possession of and the ability to maintain a valid California driver's license. Depending on department assigned to, some positions may require passing a thorough background investigation.
