Solano Community College invites applications of interested and qualified clinical instructors to teach. This position is a part-time position. The teaching assignment may require teaching clinical and/or lecture-discussion courses during the day, evening, or on weekends, and/or in an on-line/distance education format. The assignments are as needed, during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. Part-Time/Adjunct faculty are paid for classroom instruction hours (lecture and/or lab) only.
Paid office hours may be available to adjunct faculty in fall and spring semesters in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
For your information, the District may cancel classes or change instructors as enrollment needs are determined. If this occurs, the District will notify affected parties and pay employees for actual services rendered.
APPLICATION PROCESS DETAILS:
* To be considered for this position, all complete applications and supporting materials must be received by the Final date to receive applications.
* Meeting the minimum qualifications does not assure the candidate an interview. It is, therefore, important that the application be thorough and detailed.
* Reference checks for the finalists will be conducted.
* Candidates should not expect official notification until the selection of the candidate has been completed.
* The College may re-advertise or delay filling a position.
* Oral interviews (or Zoom interviews) may be conducted to include a teaching demonstration.
* Travel costs related to the interview are the responsibility of the candidate.
Paid office hours are available to adjunct faculty who teach a 40% assignment or more in fall and spring semesters.
* Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations.
* Inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations.
* Meet administrative timelines and submit completed and required documents and reports.
* Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records.
* Participate in staff/division meetings.
* Keep student learning outcomes current and assess courses.
* Review curriculum and assess student learning.
* Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences and/or Director of Nursing.
* Instructors must also communicate professionally and work effectively with others.
* A current California Registered Nurse License
* Master's Degree in Nursing OR Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and two years of experience; OR Associate Degree in Nursing and at least six years' experience.
3. At least one (1) year continuous, full-time (or its equivalent) experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five (5) years in an acute or long-term care setting; OR teaching in an RN pre/post-licensure nursing program for a minimum of one (1) academic year in the last five (5) years.
4. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider Certification for Healthcare Providers
Applicants' qualifications subject to approval by:
* Board of Registered Nursing for the State of California (BRN Title 16, CCR Section 1425) AND/OR
* Department of Public Health for the State of California.
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university.
