GENERAL OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
Solano Community College is actively seeking highly qualified applicants for part-time adjunct anatomy and/or physiology teaching positions in the biology department. The successful candidate, meeting the minimum qualifications outlined below, will be responsible for teaching various areas of chemistry. Assignments will be available in the fall, spring, and summer terms. The ideal candidate can demonstrate a wide range of teaching strategies to facilitate effective student learning.
As we actively recruit, we are particularly interested in experienced professionals with expertise in cadaver-based anatomy, lab based human physiology, and related areas. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Biology Department is part of the Mathematics and Science Division of Solano Community College. Become part of a highly-motivated and collaborative biology department whose experienced faculty are eager to help new instructors succeed. Our anatomy and physiology instructors use state-of-the-art human cadaver dissection labs to prepare students for rewarding careers in the health-sciences.
We want instructors who care about students, about pedagogy, and the future of our community. We are looking for an individual willing to take risks to achieve those goals.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position requires the ability to teach human cadaver-based anatomy and/or human physiology. The successful candidate will be able to teach human anatomy (BIO
4) lecture and laboratory courses for pre-professional (mostly pre-nursing) students. The laboratory includes the extensive use and dissection of human cadavers and substantial examination of prepared histology slides. Human physiology (BIO
5) requires the in-depth understanding of human anatomy taught in the BIO 04 course. The successful candidate may teach all related department curriculum over the course of their career depending on their biology knowledge and teaching strengths. The successful candidate will work collegially with other faculty in the department and the district and is expected to develop the use of technology, equitable teaching practices, and active learning strategies in the classroom.
The candidate will provide instruction at the Fairfield campus and other District locations, including (but not limited to) the Vacaville Center and the Vallejo Center. Teaching assignments may include evening and weekend hours in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement and College and School policies.
