Business Insurance Instructor; PT

Solano Community College is seeking qualified applicants for a part‑time instructor role within the Business Insurance:
Property and Casualty Certificate Program. The curriculum includes specialized courses in property and liability insurance, personal insurance, and insurance codes and ethics.

This part‑time teaching assignment may require lecture‑discussion courses during day, evening or Saturday and/or online/distance education format, as needed during Spring, Summer, and/or Fall semesters. Classes or instructors may be cancelled or changed based on enrollment needs.

• Provide instruction in accordance with established course outlines and expectations.
• Inform students about course requirements; prepare and grade assignments and examinations.
• Meet administrative timelines and submit completed required documents and reports.
• Maintain required student attendance and scholastic records.
• Participate in division staff meetings.
• Keep student learning outcomes current and assess courses.
• Review curriculum and assess student learning.
• Communicate and work effectively with colleagues and students.
• Paid office hours are available to adjunct faculty in fall and spring semesters who teach a 40% assignment or more.

• California State Insurance License.
• Associate’s degree with six years of professional experience in the related field.
• Or Bachelor’s degree with two years of professional experience in the related field.
• All degrees must be from accredited institutions.
• Knowledge of teaching methods including critical thinking and problem‐solving strategies, and college academic requirements and standards.
• Sensitivity to students from diverse cultural, ethnic and socio‐economic backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
• Commitment to encouraging learning and an enthusiastic attitude toward learning.
