Engineering Technician I:
This is the entry-level class in the Engineering Technician series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level.
Engineering Technician II:
This is the full journey-level class within the Engineering Technician series. This class is distinguished from the Engineering Technician I by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.
Engineering Technician I - Receives immediate supervision from a Senior Civil Engineer, and technical and functional supervision from professional level engineering staff or the Senior Engineering Technician as appropriate.
Engineering Technician II - Receives general supervision from a Senior Civil Engineer, and technical and functional supervision from professional level engineering staff or the Senior Engineering Technician as appropriate. May exercise technical supervision over lower-level technical engineering personnel.
Engineering Technician I- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by courses in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry is required.
- One year of experience in engineering work, requiring knowledge of field surveying, and office engineering practices and procedures is required.
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by courses in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry is required.
- Two (2) years of experience in engineering work requiring knowledge of field, surveying, and office engineering practices and procedures, equivalent to an Engineering Technician I with the City of Fairfield, is required.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required.
