Position Overview
This position provides technical leadership for the operation, reliability, and optimization of Husky PET injection molding systems and associated automation within a high‑volume manufacturing environment. The role is responsible for strategic coordination of injection maintenance activities, mold changeovers, process startup, and advanced troubleshooting of servo‑hydraulic injection systems, hot runner technologies, and mold tooling platforms.
Responsibilities- Provide advanced technical oversight of Husky GLine / HyPET injection molding platforms, including:
- Injection unit performance optimization
- Clamp system mechanics and tie‑bar stretch monitoring
- Servo‑hydraulic drive systems
- Valve‑gated hot runner technology
- Mold cooling and thermal management systems
- Automated part handling robotics and downstream equipment
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for Husky machine functionality, diagnostics, and system integration.
- Lead technical troubleshooting of complex mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and process‑related issues affecting machine performance and product quality.
- Optimize critical injection parameters to maintain stable production, including:
- Injection velocity and pressure profile
- Screw recovery and plasticizing performance
- Hold pressure and pack profiles
- Mold temperature and cooling efficiency
- Cycle time optimization
- Diagnose and correct process‑related defects, such as:
- Preform dimensional variation
- Gate imbalance
- Short shots
- Flashing
- Crystallinity or cooling defects
- Utilize statistical process control systems (RealSPC) and production analytics to ensure consistent process capability.
- Lead and coordinate complex mold changeovers on Husky injection systems, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid production startup. Key technical responsibilities include:
- Mold installation and precision alignment
- Hydraulic, pneumatic, and cooling system integration
- Hot runner electrical interface verification
- Valve gate system calibration
- Robot EOAT (End‑of‑Arm Tooling) setup
- Mold protection configuration and validation
- Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies for injection molding equipment and auxiliary systems, overseeing maintenance programs for:
- Injection screws and barrels
- Servo‑hydraulic pumps and valves
- Clamp assemblies and lubrication systems
- Hot runner systems and temperature controllers
- Cooling manifolds and mold temperature control units
- Robotics and automation interfaces
- Perform root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and analyze production performance through systems such as Factory Management Systems (FMS), RealSPC, and SAP production and maintenance reporting. Evaluate performance metrics including machine uptime, OEE, scrap and defect rates, and cycle time efficiency, and provide recommendations for process and equipment improvements.
- Provide mentorship and technical training to maintenance technicians, setup technicians, and injection operators. Training focus areas include:
- Husky system diagnostics
- Injection process fundamentals
- Mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Mold handling and changeover best practices
