Engineer Assistant

The Department of Resource Management is a comprehensive agency comprised of the Public Works, Building and Safety, Planning Services, Environmental Health Services, Parks, and Administrative Services Divisions. The department provides for the well‑being of Solano County's present and future residents and the public at‑large through the administration and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws and policies pertaining to transportation, building construction, land use planning, environmental health, and recreation.

Engineer Assistant – entry‑level civil engineering role within the Public Works‑Engineering & Surveying Division. The Engineer Assistant performs civil engineering work in the development, design, and construction of civil and/or traffic engineering projects. Duties include conducting inspections, checking design calculations, and analyzing survey information. As experience is acquired, the Engineer Assistant will receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Civil Engineering (required).
• Certificates/Licenses:
  Possession of Engineer‑in‑Training Certification or a Registered Civil Engineer license in the State of California (required).
• Driver’s License:
  Valid Class C California driver’s license (required).

Veteran applicants who meet the eligibility criteria receive preference points added to the combined score in competitive open examinations. Disabled veterans rated at not less than 30% disability receive ten (10) points; otherwise, veteran applicants receive five (5) points.
