Job Details:
As a Project Engineer specializing in Utility Energy Management, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing projects aimed at optimizing energy efficiency, reliability, and sustainability within utility operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure projects meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and business objectives. In this role, you will provide pre-sales support, work with customers to define requirement and work with internal team to create a detailed requirement plan for execution.
In post-sales, you will be working with the project manager to deploy, install, configure and commission projects as defined in the customer requirement document.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Management:
- Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets for utility energy management initiatives.
- Coordinate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to ensure timely project execution.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
- Apply knowledge of utility systems, including electrical distribution, renewable energy integration, and demand-side management.
- Evaluate energy usage patterns and recommend strategies for optimizing energy efficiency and reducing operational costs.
- Design and implement energy management solutions, such as smart grid technologies and energy storage systems.
- Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations related to utility operations and energy management.
- Prepare documentation and reports required for regulatory approvals and compliance audits.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (engineering teams, operations, finance) and external partners (regulators, contractors, vendors) to achieve project objectives.
- Communicate project updates, milestones, and challenges to stakeholders and senior management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in utility energy management practices.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in energy management and sustainability.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field); advanced degree or professional certification in Energy Management is a plus.
- Proven experience (10 year) in project management and project engineering within the utility sector, with a focus on energy management and renewable energy integration.
- Strong understanding of utility systems, energy distribution networks, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to write detail specification documents.
- Experience with utility-scale renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro).
- Familiarity with energy modeling software (e.g., RETScreen, HOMER).
- Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or similar credential.
- Experience with Electric Vehicle Chargers, Controllers, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Energy Efficiency, and/or Solar
- Experience in using Salesforce.
- Strong analytical skills able to interface customers desires and technical requirements.
- Good communication skills with external customers, partners, and suppliers
- Experienced in multi-cultural working environments.
