Position: Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Plumbing Design (PE Preferred)

MK2 Engineers is an established Northern California consulting engineering firm with more than 26 years of experience providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design services. About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Designer with strong HVAC and plumbing design experience. A California PE license is preferred.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on design, project ownership, collaboration, and working directly with clients and company leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC and plumbing systems for new construction, renovations, and system upgrades
  • Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and air- and water-side calculations.
  • Prepare and coordinate drawings, specifications, reports, and design documentation.
  • Perform code research and support California Title 24 compliance
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, clients, and other project team members
  • Conduct site investigations and support construction administration
  • Review project documents and assist with QA/QC
  • Help manage projects from design through construction
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for buildings
  • Experience working with a U.S.

    -based A/E firm or design-build contractor preferred
  • Knowledge of California mechanical, plumbing, and energy codes
  • AutoCAD experience required
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
