The Solano County Special Investigations Bureau (SIB) is dedicated to protecting public resources by investigating suspected welfare fraud, preventing program abuse, and helping ensure public assistance benefits are available for those who truly qualify. Our investigators conduct thorough criminal and administrative investigations, verify eligibility information, recover public funds through over payment collections and court‑ordered restitution, and work closely with local, state, and federal partners to uphold the integrity of public assistance programs.

- Plan, organize, supervise, and participate in work of investigators conducting criminal and administrative investigations involving suspected public assistance fraud, theft, forgery, and related offenses.
- Lead investigative staff while conducting complex investigations involving eligibility fraud, employee threats, theft, damage to public property, and other assigned investigations.
- Review investigative findings, prepare cases for criminal prosecution or administrative action.
- Testify in judicial and administrative proceedings.
- Serve as an important member of the department’s management team.
- Associate’s Degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Law Enforcement, Police Science, or a closely related field; or a California Intermediate Post Certificate substitutes for education requirements. Must submit copy of degree or transcripts by deadline.
- Three (3) years of full‑time paid law‑enforcement experience working primarily in criminal investigations in a government agency, with at least one (1) year as a Welfare Fraud Investigator or equivalent in a government agency.
- Possession of a valid and current POST Specialized Investigator Basic Course (SIBC), or a valid and current California POST Basic, Intermediate or Advanced Peace Officer Certificate, or a Basic Course Waiver (BCW). Must submit copy by deadline.
- Valid California driver’s license, Class
C.
