General Manager - Fulfillment Center Operations
Pay and Compensation$150,000 salary + 15% bonus
Job DescriptionThe General Manager oversees all operations for the Fairfield Fulfillment Center, leading warehouse, production, shipping, and receiving teams in a high-volume distribution environment. This role is responsible for operational strategy, full P&L ownership, leadership development, and ensuring world‑class performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. The GM drives continuous improvement, partners closely with commercial and supply chain leaders, and ensures the facility consistently meets customer expectations and service‑level commitments.
Responsibilities- Own full P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and variance analysis.
- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with corporate goals and customer requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop Managers and Supervisors across warehouse and production functions.
- Oversee inbound receiving, inspection, and system accuracy within ERP/WMS platforms (Microsoft AX Dynamics preferred).
- Ensure outbound shipping meets customer, company, and regulatory standards.
- Manage labor planning, staffing levels, and weekly payroll for full-time and temporary employees.
- Drive operational excellence using Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Maintain compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality requirements across the facility.
- Partner with Sales, Supply Chain, and Finance to support new business, resolve quality or pricing issues, and ensure operational feasibility of customer programs.
- Ensure consistent execution of SLAs to support customer satisfaction and retention.
- Lead strategic initiatives including automation, systems integration, and long‑term capacity planning.
- Build a high‑performance culture through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
- Apply consistent coaching, counseling, and performance management practices.
- Review and adjust workforce plans to meet changing business demands.
- Travel up to 15%.
- Strong understanding of P&L fundamentals and financial decision‑making.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into action.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Deep knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, operational KPIs, and continuous improvement tools.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, including quality, pricing, and customer‑driven challenges.
- Experience quoting ad‑hoc projects and understanding cost structures.
- Ability to lead cultural transformation and scale operations in a growth environment.
- Strong ERP/WMS experience;
Microsoft AX Dynamics preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated success driving operational excellence, business growth, and cultural change.
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Industry experience in manufacturing or distribution strongly preferred.
