Position: House Supervisor (RN)

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required:

    Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications;
    Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Preferred: (none)
EXPERIENCE
  • Required:

    Two to five years of clinical nursing experience
  • Preferred:
    Acute care or supervisory experience preferred;
    Leadership or charge nurse experience;
    Additional clinical certifications

NATURE

OF WORK

The House RN Supervisor provides leadership and operational oversight for all patient care areas during assigned shifts. This role ensures safe, effective, and efficient nursing care by coordinating staffing, supporting clinical decision making, and serving as a resource to nursing personnel. The Supervisor enforces hospital policies, promotes a safe and clean environment, facilitates communication across departments, and assists with emergency procedures.

This position plays a key role in maintaining continuity of care, supporting staff performance, and fostering a positive, team oriented work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for all patient care areas and ancillary functions during assigned shifts.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments for RNs, LPNs, Nurse Aides, and Desk Secretaries based on patient needs and census.
  • Support orientation, education, and ongoing development of nursing personnel, including safe patient handling and emergency procedures.
  • Promote regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and accurate documentation through chart reviews, PI activities, and policy adherence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care, communication, and service delivery across the hospital.
  • Assist with performance evaluations, coaching, and corrective actions in alignment with hospital policies.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by monitoring adherence to safety practices, participating in workplace audits, and reviewing incidents or injuries.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, promote teamwork, and support patient centered care across all age groups, including neonate through geriatric populations.
