Summary/objective

Coordinate the purchase of materials and supplies as needed for customers jobs.

Essential functions

  • Provide excellent customer service through timeliness, purchasing, accuracy and tracking to meet customer needs and expectations.
  • Act as an interface between vendors, store personnel, and warehouse staff to create a positive experience for all.
  • Process a high volume of purchase orders for a variety of materials.
  • Evaluate purchase orders for accuracy and completeness, designate approved vendors.
  • Determine method of delivery.
  • Submit purchase orders to the appropriate vendors.
  • Review vendor confirmations in detail to include style, color, quantity, pricing, and estimated delivery date.
  • Accurately enter confirmed information into the system.
  • Coordinate purchasing details, with vendors to include lead times, pricing, discontinued items, acceptable substitutes, back orders, delivery date revisions and invoice discrepancies.
  • Manage all communication with vendors and resolve any issues.
  • Monitor compliance of all delivery dates to maintain satisfaction and customer service standards.
  • Track critical inbound shipments to meet customer requirements.
  • Determine the routes, dates, and locations for F.L. company trucks to pick up material from various vendors.
  • Communicate any issues or irregularities to the store(s) for communication with the customer.
  • Work to resolve customer-related issues or concerns with their purchased materials.
  • Maintain communication with F.L. stores and Distribution Centers for timely receiving of materials, as well as issues with shortages or damage.
  • Follow up as necessary.
