Position: Community Liaison (Bilingual Spanish)

Job Title

Under supervision of the Director of Student Services, act as communication liaison within the school community. Involve parents in school/District functions; provides specialized support functions among segments of the community; directs parents to appropriate community service agencies for assistance; and conduct outreach to the parents of socioeconomically disadvantaged students, homeless and foster youth.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as liaison between school, District, home and community.
  • Meet with parents of diverse ethnic backgrounds [i.e. English Language Learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, homeless, foster youth and migrant] to discuss school & district procedures.
  • Provide assistance, information and materials to all visitors, parents, and the public regarding school programs and policies, referring the most complex inquiries to the appropriate administrator.
  • Conduct parent outreach by contacting parents to inform them of services provided by the school and making phone calls on behalf of teachers and administrators to update them on student academic progress, attendance patterns and behavioral concerns.
  • Cares for, supervises, controls and protects students in a manner commensurate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Home Visitations; conduct residency checks and verify address for registration purposes, provide information and resources, wellness checks for attendance/truancy, in-person follow-ups with parents, deliver food, clothing, backpacks and other identified needs.
  • May be required to attend and participate in evening school or school activities (i.e. registration events, LCAP, orientation, DELAC meetings).
  • Attend community meetings; such as Homeless Roundtable, Foster Youth Education Planning Team (FYEPT), Homeless Education and Resource Team (HEART) and Let's get Connected – Help me Grow meetings.
  • Involve parents in school activities and to generally encourage understanding and support.
